Njabulo Mbanjwa Integrated FC supporter said that he had high hopes given that they started off strong but commended his team for showing their capabilities despite their loss.

“I thought we would win as we started strong, but you win some and sometimes you lose, we will come back stronger next semester”, he said.

Journalism levelled the score in the second half, sending the crowd to go wild. Neither of the teams could find a win full time sending them straight to extra time. Things got even more heated up as there were arguments about a goal that the referee overruled.

Journalism FC coach, Aphiwe Matwa praised his team for winning despite changing the game plan minutes before kick-off.

“This was a very beautiful match. We walked out victorious though we had a shaky start due to last minute changes. I’m so happy the boys pulled through.”, he said showing great enthusiasm.

Journalism forward player, Kamogelo Mphahlele described the match as physical and highly emotional.

“I feel the match was okay despite that the opposition was highly emotional during the match and a fight nearly broke as we approached penalties”, he said.

During penalty shoot-out, things got too physical when Integrated FC wanted to abandon the match before full time. This pushed Journalism FC to the edge, as it meant the stake would be lost. The crowd showed great dissatisfaction, but fortunately, the match continued.

Man of the match, Ntandoyenkosi Mhlanga, praised his team for resilience, saying they would not have won if it wasn’t for teamwork and dedication.

“We played our best though it was not a walk in the park, and I was able to stop the opposition from scoring a penalty, we couldn’t have done it without each other”, he said.

Both teams leave with one objective: training even harder after seeing their weaknesses and the oppositions strengths during the match.

The win gives Journalism the R300 stake and campus bragging rights until they go head-to-head next semester.
