Students sang and danced passionately as an expression of seeking guidance and protection from God. The purpose of the day was to heal students from depression and anxiety through prayer, as such might hinder exams.

Spirit Fire Baptism Church, Apostle Rescar said that as Christians they should make education fashionable, referring to the fact that he recently graduated for his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

“Being Christian does not mean you don’t need to be educated, as a PhD holder all I had to do was ask God for wisdom and lean not just on my understanding”, he said.

Rescar further quoted scriptures that emphasised that God could assist during this exam season, regardless of challenges we face and burdens we have. His message blended academic encouragement with spiritual support.

Residence management echoed the spiritual focus with messages of hope. The call for faith and education was reinforced by residence leadership.

Resident Manager Assistant, Nthabiseng Chauke said that as residence management it gives them hope in the future seeing students gather for a similar purpose, which is succeeding in their respective fields.

“It is truly a blessing to gather today with faith and hope for better futures. In prayer we can find courage, strength, and hope through this exam season”, she said.

Chauke added that all students should have faith and hope that God will sustain them this exam season.

As speakers shared words of encouragement and testimonies, some revealed the struggles they have faced in their academic journey and how they overcame.

TCE 2 academic mentor David Trailor shared words of encouragement with those in attendance, highlighting issues students face prior or during exams. He also introduced strategies students can adopt to sail through this exam season.

“I may be an academic mentor by office, but I am a student first. There is so much we face as students, especially when approaching our exams, always know that prior preparation yields good result”, He said

Tailor concluded by giving students assurance that if one puts in the hard work, and applies faith in what they do, they can achieve greatness.

The night ended with a prayer dedicated to the exams. Students walked out of the gymnasium hall with more than the event programmes in their hands, they carried renewed strength for the weeks ahead.

In a season defined by pressure and all-nighters, TCE 2 reminded students that they don’t have to face it alone or in silence.
