Grace Mondlana’s flight to Beijing on April 22 wasn’t announced with fanfare, but for the 25-year-old content creator from Tembisa, it marked a moment years in the making.

Selected by Great Wall Motors to attend the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Mondlana’s journey from Tembisa to an international stage reflects what happens when consistency meets opportunity.

Mondlana first showed that consistency at Queens High School in Johannesburg, where a scholarship for outstanding performance allowed her to complete her schooling. She later graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Pretoria. But it was after university that she followed what she called her real passion: content creation.

That shift paid off. Today, Mondlana has over 2.9 million followers and has worked with brands like Nivea, Eden Perfumes, Disney South Africa, and GWM. In 2025, GWM named her the official brand ambassador and gifted her a Haval H6 Ultra luxury 4WD.

For Mondlana, the growth has never been about the numbers alone. In November 2025, she hosted a year-end gathering at the Divine Sunset Venue in Midrand. The event wasn’t just a celebration. It was a chance for her to mentor upcoming creators and help them secure their own brand partnerships.

“The purpose of today is not just to celebrate myself, don’t downplay your achievements because we have all reached a milestone, as little as it may seem it is something,” she told the room.

That approach is why others look up to her. Amogelang Modupe, a Bachelor of Education student and content creator, said Mondlana changed how she saw her own future.

“Grace makes me believe that you don’t have to come from a big city or have connections to make it. Seeing her go from Tembisa to Beijing with GWM shows that hard work and consistency payoff,” Modupe said.

Mondlana has brought back hope for ordinary citizens, especially young people, showing that anyone can do whatever they set their minds on.

Mbali Mthethwa, another upcoming creator, said she only started taking content creation seriously after discovering Mondlana’s work.

“Before I was introduced to Grace’s content by a friend, I used to think content creation was for socialites, but seeing a simple young woman making it large inspired me to grow my page. I am not where I want to be yet, but I am hopeful for the future,” Mthethwa said.

Social media has shifted power away from traditional gatekeepers, and Mondlana’s career shows what’s possible when creators understand both brand representation and digital etiquette.

Mondlana’s journey from Tembisa to Beijing is more than a personal milestone. With 2.9 million followers and partnerships with global brands like GWM, Nivea, and Disney South Africa, she has redefined what it means to be a South African creator.
